Free Text to Speech Online - No Sign-Up, MP3 Download
VoiceForge turns written text into natural-sounding speech in your browser. There is no account to create, no software to install and no watermark on the audio. Paste your text, pick a voice, and download the result as MP3, WAV or OGG.
How to convert text to speech in three steps
- Paste your text. Each run accepts up to 5,000 characters, which is roughly 800 words or about five minutes of narration.
- Choose a voice. Filter by language, then preview a few voices with your own text, because the same voice can sound very different on a tutorial script and on a short announcement.
- Generate and download. Adjust speed (0.5x to 2.0x) and pitch (plus or minus 50 Hz) if needed, then save the file.

Languages and voices
The voice library covers English (US, UK and Australia), Mandarin Chinese, Japanese, Korean, German, French, Spanish, Brazilian Portuguese, Italian, Hindi, Arabic and Russian. If you pick a voice in a different language, the optional auto-translate step can translate your text first, and you can edit the translation before generating.
Which format should I download?
- MP3 - small files that work everywhere; best for videos, podcasts and sharing.
- WAV - lossless; best if you will edit or master the audio afterwards.
- OGG - compact and web friendly; useful for websites and games.
Get more natural results
- Write the way people speak: short sentences, contractions, and punctuation where you want a pause.
- Spell out numbers, abbreviations and brand names the way they should sound, or use the pronunciation helper to replace them before generating.
- For precise control over pauses, emphasis and pitch, use the SSML editor.
- For long documents or lesson scripts, split the text into sections with batch conversion so each part becomes its own file.
Limits and privacy
Each run is limited to 5,000 characters. Your text is sent to a server only to generate the audio and is not kept afterwards; your generation history lives in your own browser. Speech is produced through Microsoft's neural text to speech service, so please do not submit confidential text. VoiceForge is an independent project and is not affiliated with Microsoft.
